While at this year’s Arts in the Park festival in Highland Park, NJ, Raíces Cultural Center had the opportunity to capture some photos of two groups from Central NJ whose art helps to preserve cultural traditions in our community. These two groups, Capoeira Senzala & Magnolia Street String Band, who perform, practice, and preserve Brazilian Capoeira and American Bluegrass, respectively, also happened to be a part of the Raíces Roots Music Concert Series this year, performing and sharing information and history about their cultural traditions with our community in Highland Park.
These groups and the traditions they practice will be featured in the Raíces Roots Online Digital Archive starting in early 2019. Check out some of the photos we were able to capture as we spent the day celebrating the arts and spreading the word about our mission, programs and initiatives.
