Support Spotlight: Raíces Awarded Middlesex County Arts and History Program Grants for 2023
History Program funding will support the expansion of our “Ancestral Herbal Narratives” Oral History Collection launched in 2020. This support will allow the Raíces Digital Archive team to document, preserve and share stories, narratives, and histories of herbalists and healers and descendants of herbal practitioners who were born in, live in or work in New Jersey from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds and practices related to healing. Excerpts from the interviews will continue to be used in multimedia exhibits and reflections, including audio, video, photo and written narrative formats to reach a wider audience.
Raíces Cultural Center is grateful to Middlesex County Office of Arts and History for the continued funding support for our arts and history programs and projects. This support helps us continue to grow our roots, and to preserve and share our rich cultural traditions and history with our neighbors in Middlesex County and our cultural community throughout the diaspora!
