Support Spotlight: Raíces Awarded Middlesex County Arts and History Program Grants for 2024
Raíces Cultural Center is kicking off 2024 strong with support for our community programming and projects thanks to Arts and History Program Grants from the Middlesex County Office of Arts and History (MCOAH).
Arts Program funding will support the continuation and expansion of our weekly Community Arts Cultural Arts classes, allowing us to offer several cycles of weekly classes throughout the year, focusing on a variety of genres of dance, drum and song of the Caribbean. Classes offered will include Introduction to Bomba Dance, Introduction to AfroCuban Dance, Raícitas “Little Roots” Family Arts and Culture classes and Introduction to Caribbean Drumming. This year’s funding will allow us to offer year-round class cycles, with a minimum of 120 classes being offered to the public at our home in Highland Park, NJ through the year.
History Program funding will support the expansion the Raíces Digital Archive with a set of collections and an exhibit documenting the 15 year history of Raíces Cultural Center’s programs and projects. Grant funds will be used for staffing costs related to digitizing and publishing a minimum of 5,000 new records and 1 digital exhibit.
Grant funding has been provided by the Middlesex County Board of County Commissioners through a grant award from the Middlesex County Cultural and Arts Trust Fund. For information on events, go to MiddlesexCountyCulture.com
