SUPPORT SPOTLIGHT: Raíces Receives New Jersey Council for the Humanities Action Grant
"The New Jersey Council for the Humanities (NJCH) has awarded 18 grants totaling $216,319 in its most recent grant round. These funds will support a diverse array of projects in nine counties across the Garden State, highlighting NJCH’s ongoing commitment to fostering the public humanities in New Jersey.
Notably, of the 18 awarded projects, five had their genesis in prior NJCH grants or programs. The high quality of applications for these projects demonstrates the distinctive value of NJCH’s support for the development of public humanities projects in early stages and within emerging organizations.
Raíces Cultural Center is proud to be among the organizations that been awarded an Action Grant in this round of funding. This grant will support the development of a series of digital exhibits and a new project portal landing page for our Family Ties: Stories that Inspire Community History project over the next year. This project was originally developed and launched in 2021 as part of the initial NJCH Community History program.
Support from the New Jersey Council for the Humanities has come in many forms over the years, including but not limited to grants, partnerships, technical assistance programs for humanities organizations, and speaking opportunities. This support has been instrumental for our organization especially within our community history and public humanities programs and projects. We are grateful to NJCH for yet another opportunity to develop, grow, create & share our work with our community.
Additional support for the design phase of this project will come from the Middlesex County Office of Arts and History’s Technical Assistance Grant.
