SUPPORT SPOTLIGHT: Raíces Receives New Jersey Council for the Humanities Incubation Grant

Raíces Cultural Center has been awarded an Incubation Grant for 2023 by the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, which will support a one-year planning and development period for our Family Ties: Stories that Inspire Community History project, which was originally launched in 2021 as part of the initial NJCH Community History program.

The Family Ties project page currently houses a publicly accessible oral history interview collection and one digital exhibit project created by 2022 Rutgers Public History Intern Layla Ahmad.  Family Ties aims to document, preserve, and share family stories, especially those that do not fit into conventional narratives of history, or are overlooked or undertold. With the support of this incubation grant, Raíces Community History Program team members will research and explore a variety of digital humanities tools, platforms and methods that can be used to expand the current oral history library into a digital humanities project portal.

The Raíces crew is grateful to NJCH for continuing to support Raíces Cultural Center and our history and humanities projects and programs.
