Raíces Welcomes Public History Intern Layla Ahmed

Raíces Cultural Center Branch of Community History is happy to welcome Rutgers Public History intern Layla Ahmed to our digital archive team. Layla is spending the fall 2021 semester learning the basics of managing digital archive collections and getting hands on experience in public outreach and programming related to topics in our digital collections. We look forward to sharing some of Layla’s work with our community.

We asked Layla to share a little about herself:

I am a third-year college student at Rutgers University-New Brunswick. I am majoring in History and minoring in International and Global Studies with a focus on Latin America and the Caribbean. I am interested in how environmental damage impacts human lives especially in lower-income and minority areas within the U.S. and in the Global South. In the future, I hope to have a career in law particularly in environmental or civil rights law.

Welcome to the Raíces Roots Crew, Layla!
