We can’t believe it’s seed time already!  Catalogs have been arriving in the mail; we are planning out our spring and summer gardens and the annual nominations for donations from the Hudson Valley Seed Library have begun.  We are looking forward to adding new varieties to our growing seed library; planting and sharing seedlings and cultivating an abundance of vegetables, herbs and flowers in 2015.

As a non-profit organization, we need the help and support of our community to make our projects thrive. YOU can start, by giving less than 5 minutes of your time to nominate us for a seed donation from the Hudson Valley Seed Library. Last year, the nominations by our friends, family and supporters allowed us to receive 50 packets of non G.M.O. seeds for our programs, adding to the variety of plants we grew and shared in our community and expanding our Raíces Eco-Culture Seed Library.

Please take a few minutes to nominate Raíces for a seed donation for the 2015 growing season. Please share the link of this blog post through email and social media; help spread the word and help Raíces receive a larger seed donation for our seed library and our Eco-Culture gardening programs. The deadline for nominations is January 31st, so there is still plenty of time to get the word out far and wide! The more nominations our organization receives by then, the more seeds will be donated to us!

What we would do with a seed donation:

-Distribute to seed library members for them to plant for seed harvest.
-Expand the variety of seeds available through our community seed library.
-Increase variety of the plants we grow in our Eco-Culture vegetable gardens, healing herbs garden and our pollinator plots.
-Use them in educational programs on seed starting and seed saving in schools and throughout our community.
