Juancho has been a resident of NYC since he arrived from Puerto Rico many years ago. He began working with wood in his hometown of Morovis at an early age, not only learning the art of drum making but, he is also a skilled artisan in the craft of furniture design and repair. Raíces has purchased a number of handmade drums, all with their particular signature, no two drums are alike, that makes his creations exquisite and unique at the same time. If you ever visit his workshop in the Bronx, you will find a very welcoming environment and the jocularity that only Juancho can bring to a conversation. He is a true joker at heart and will make you laugh the whole time you are in his company.
If you’re looking for a finely crafted hand drum made by a very experienced and knowledgeable artisan, Juancho is your man. Oh and don’t be surprised if you run into some very famous musicians while visiting his workshop!
